The project objective was to provide technical assistance and training to a panel of 50 small and medium enterprises in order to promote the implementation of the environmental management system (EMAS) as specified in the CEE regulation 1863/93 and to provide assistance to the Maltese government on institutional matters related to the regulation endorsement. A mixed Italian Maltese technical team of 8 experts has been set up to develop the project activities; a total of 3 seminars has been held and for each company a technical report has been issued to present the company "environmental" situation, identify possible actions in the EMAS framework, and estimate the related investment costs.
