The project has been promoted by the joint venture of STUDIO 80, SPT, SOMEA, and ITALFERR SIS TAV and has been finaced by EBRD.

The specific objectives are:

(A) to identify the issues and specify a methodology for a proposed regional multimodal planning study of international transport (TEN, Trans European Networks) and a series of planning studies on domestic transport.

(B) to specify and collect accurate, up to date information on transportation networks (road, rail, air, and waterways), traffic flows, related costs and markets.

(C) to incorporate these data in a modern information management system including software for analysis and modelling.

The task was to analyse the data requirements, develop and design the data base structure and related procedures (up date, reporting etc.), analyse the GIS interface and the data transfer procedures from the countries to the central location of CETIR in Budapest. On the job training of counterpart technicians is also foreseen.
