SOMEA (Società per la Matematica e l'Economia Applicata) was a consulting company specialized in public administration and institutional field.
In the framework of the Italian Cooperation to Peru the SITOD project has been promoted by SOMEA and financed By the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The SITOD (Sistema Informativo para la TOma de Decisiones) project was aimed to the strengthening of the Peruvian Ministerio de la Presidencia with a Decision Support System based on socio-economic information.
This general objective has been achieved through the following specific activities:
(A) Finalisation of the preliminary (offer) design of the System.
(B) Software development for data collection and statistic processing.
(C) Installation of 7 interconnected LANs in the INP and other Institutions (INEI, MEF etc.) with a total of 138 OLIVETTI PCs.
(D) Development of a specific Data Base software for the SECTI (Secretaría Ejecutiva de Cooperación Técnica Internacional) needed for the management and planning of the Cupertino projects at national level and of different financing sources.
(E) Training of the Ministry personnel (219 attendants on 18 courses of 15 days) on the computer basics and on the SITOD system.
The work has been carried out by a team of 6 experts with the support of OLIVETTI PERU' for hardware installations.
Project activities planning and advance reporting was achieved using simple EXCEL spreadsheets.
